View from Somerset House 2012 Oil on Copper 25x50cm
I discovered oil on copper during a visit to the National Gallery, London. The surface is very smooth and the paint dries really fast, some colours dry overnight. While at the National Gallery I was drawn by the luminosity of the artworks. It takes some experimenting, but, once the correct oil paint consistency is achieved, oil on copper has a very unique glow. This is beautiful to see especially when viewed in direct sunlight.
